Practice Sail for Laser® Sailboats

Made of a firmer Dacron than the Class approved sail for better wear. Cut to class dimensions using same panel sizes. The sail has the same feel as the approved sail. The top class sailors get one competitive season from a sail. Save that expensive class sail for the ILCA approved regattas. Use the practice sail for all other sailing. Double or even triple the life of your class approved sail.

Fabric is a 3.7 oz High Performance Polyester. A high performance dinghy fabric that has been custom resin finished to meet the characteristics of the Laser mast. (160gm European weight medium finish cloth)

"I've sailed with your sail in a variety of conditions against some good opposition. I found the sail to perform better than an old legal sail, providing a just a little more height for no loss of speed. This is a similar result to a new legal sail versus an old legal sail. I would say performance of your sail would be quite similar to a new legal sail and is unlikely to be worse and is therefore a great value substitute whenever the legal sail is not needed."

Sail Care TipsIf you are sailing in salt water rinse your sail after every use with fresh water. This will protect your sail fromn mildew and excess wear from dried salt working into the dacron weave.

If your Dacron sail becomes dirty it can be washed by hand using a mild dish washing detergent with a thorough fresh water rinse. Do not use harshe cleaning agents like bleach. This will harm the finish and the fabric.

Try not to leave your sail exposed to sun and wind longer than necessary. Flogging in the wind and longterm UV exposure will shorten the life of your sail. After rinsing off the sail can be dried in the shade on a grassy area if possible. Try to avoid rough surfaces like gravel or shells. Asphalt can also transfer petro chemicals onto the sail that will harm the fabric.

Your sail is provided with a nylon sail storage tube. This allows you to roll up your sail and insert it into the tube when dry. This is the best sorage method. Crumpling or folding will crease the fabric and reduce the life of the sail. When rolling your sail it is accepted as best practice to start at the head of the sail and roll to the foot. Battens can be removed or left in for short periods of storage.

Do not store your sail inside a car on a hot day. High temperatures will also shorten the life of your sail.
